- 
Blocking glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, 
- 
Increasing sugar excretion in urine, 
- 
Also approved for chronic kidney disease and heart failure management 
📌 Indications
- 
Type 2 diabetes (as monotherapy or add-on) . 
- 
Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction 
- 
Chronic kidney disease (with or without diabetes). 
⚙️ Dosage & Administration
- 
Typical starting dose: 5 mg once daily in the morning, with or without food 
- 
May increase to 10 mg daily based on tolerance and kidney function (eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min) 
- 
In severe liver impairment, doctors may use 5 mg 
⚠️ Warnings & Precautions
- 
Contraindicated if allergic to dapagliflozin or excipients 
- 
Not for Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis 
- 
Risk of Fournier’s gangrene (a rare, serious genital infection)—seek immediate care if symptoms like pain or swelling occur 
- 
Use with caution in elderly patients, kidney impairment, low blood pressure, or those on diuretics 
-
