It’s also approved for managing heart failure and chronic kidney disease, due to its kidney- and heart-protective effects.
📌 Indications

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (as add-on or monotherapy)

Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (10 mg daily)

Chronic kidney disease, with or without diabetes (10 mg daily)
⚙️ Dosage & Administration

Standard adult dose: 10 mg once daily (can be taken any time, with or without food)

No dose adjustment needed for renal function ≥ 25 mL/min (CKD use allowed)

In severe liver impairment, start with 5 mg, then increase if tolerated
-
Not recommended to initiate if estimated GFR < 15 mL/min/1.73 m²
